Open Cursor IDE.
Press Ctrl + Shift + P (or Cmd + Shift + P on Mac) to open the command palette.
Type Preferences: Open Settings (JSON) and hit Enter.
Add the following lines into this JSON settings file:

"update.enableWindowsBackgroundUpdates": false,
"update.mode": "none"
